ADHD | Entrepreneurs Why Simplicity, Niche & Asking for Help Are Business Superpowers
This is an older episode of Corporate to Calm, but the lessons are incredibly relevant for ADHD business owners building sustainable growth.
In this episode, I speak with Stephen Murtagh known as The Exhibition Guy a globally recognised, award-winning exhibition strategist and sales trainer.
Stephen has devoted his career to helping businesses maximise their exhibition strategy and sales process. But what makes this conversation powerful for ADHD entrepreneurs isn’t just sales expertise.
It’s the habits behind the success.
If you’re an ADHD entrepreneur, you might recognise
• Overcomplicating offers
• Avoiding asking for help
• Trying to serve everyone
• Burning out from doing everything alone
• Shiny object syndrome in marketing
Stephen’s message is clear
“It’s not that I didn’t have support, it’s that I didn’t ask for it.”
And for ADHD founders, that hits hard.
Independence can become isolation.
Lessons for Entrepreneurs
1️⃣ The Importance of Niching Your Product or Service
Clarity reduces cognitive overload.
When you niche, decision-making becomes easier.
Messaging becomes simpler.
Sales become cleaner.
A defined niche is an executive function support tool.
2️⃣ The Importance of Asking for Help
ADHD brains thrive with accountability and external structure.
Coaches. Mentors. Peers.
Support isn’t weakness, it’s strategy.
3️⃣ Keeping Business Uncomplicated
“The more you complicate things, the more complicated they become.”
Over-engineering systems creates overwhelm.
Overwhelm leads to avoidance.
Avoidance leads to inconsistency.
Simplicity builds momentum.
4️⃣ Continual Training to Future-Proof Your Business
Growth isn’t accidental.
Stephen moved from Yellow Pages sales to stationery to concept selling to becoming globally recognised in exhibitions.
He faced business closure in the late noughties.
He faced the people he owed money.
He rebuilt.
That’s resilience.
That’s habit-based growth.
Why This Matters for ADHD Founders
Exhibiting, marketing, selling these are high-investment activities.
As Stephen says
“Exhibiting is the most expensive way to market your business, if you do it wrong.”
ADHD entrepreneurs don’t need more tactics.
They need
✔ Clear niche
✔ Simple systems
✔ Support structures
✔ Consistent skill development
Business calm comes from structure, not hustle.
If you’re navigating career change, building a business, or trying to systemise your ADHD brain in business this conversation is packed with practical wisdom.

ADHD | Entrepreneurs Imposter Syndrome, Self-Worth & The Habit of Taking Up Space
This is an older episode of Corporate to Calm, but if you’re an ADHD entrepreneur navigating imposter syndrome, self-doubt or a late career pivot — this conversation will land deeply.
In this episode, I speak with Amanda Grace about identity, fear, sobriety, and what it really means to reclaim your life.
“Women are conditioned to take up as little space as possible.”
For ADHD women in business, that conditioning runs deep.
Masking.
People-pleasing.
Over-delivering.
Undercharging.
Playing small to stay safe.
Amanda’s journey from running her father’s bar in Killaloe to becoming a qualified psychotherapist after completing a four-year degree is a powerful example of what happens when you build new habits around self-worth.
ADHD can amplify
• Imposter syndrome
• Rejection sensitivity
• Fear of visibility
• Paralysis through overthinking
• Living “outside in” instead of internally aligned
Amanda shares how she didn’t truly meet herself until 34 because she was living as an observer rather than a participant in her own life.
That resonates with so many neurodivergent women.
Key Lessons for ADHD Business Owners
1️⃣ Imposter Syndrome Can Be Paralysing
But paralysis is a pattern not a personality flaw.
Small consistent visibility habits break the cycle.
2️⃣ It’s Never Too Late to Reclaim Your Life
Career change with ADHD isn’t failure.
It’s alignment.
3️⃣ Worthiness Is an Identity
“Worthy is an identity, it is the importance of being true to you.”
Confidence isn’t a feeling.
It’s reinforced through behaviour.
4️⃣ Sobriety & Nervous System Regulation
Amanda shares how sobriety saved her €40k in five years but more importantly, it supported clarity, healing and self-trust.
For ADHD entrepreneurs, nervous system regulation is business strategy.
5️⃣ Fear Shrinks When You Keep Showing Up
Not perfectly.
Not loudly.
But consistently.
Habits build identity.
Identity builds confidence.
Confidence builds business.
Why This Matters for Entrepreneurs
You cannot systemise your business if you don’t believe you’re worthy of success.
You cannot grow sustainably if you’re operating from shame.
Amanda’s story is proof that
✔ It’s never too late to pivot
✔ Self-worth is built, not found
✔ Grief and healing can fuel growth
✔ Taking up space is a practice

ADHD | Entrepreneurs When Closing a Business Is the Smartest Move You’ll Ever Make
This is an older episode of Corporate to Calm, but if you’re an ADHD entrepreneur navigating burnout, career pivots or questioning your passion this conversation is powerful.
In this episode, I speak with Antoinette Young about closing a business she ran for nearly 20 years and moving into corporate where she found her version of calm.
“Imagine at 8 or 9 telling my aunt, someday I’ll have my own business.”
Antoinette did exactly that.
She built a business she loved.
She was fearless.
She was driven.
And when the late noughties recession hit, she made the courageous decision to close it.
For ADHD founders, identity can become fused with the business.
We often believe
• If I quit, I’ve failed.
• If I pivot, I’ve wasted time.
• If my passion fades, I’m inconsistent.
But sometimes the most regulated decision is to let go.
Antoinette transitioned into corporate and now works within British Airways, where her creativity, resilience and ability to manage change have allowed her to thrive.
Key Lessons for Business Owners
1️⃣ Listen to Your Gut
ADHD intuition is powerful when regulated.
Your body often knows before your brain rationalises.
2️⃣ Put Yourself Ahead of Others
People-pleasing leads to burnout.
Self-prioritisation builds sustainability.
3️⃣ Hard Work Pays Off But Alignment Matters More
Grinding through lost passion isn’t resilience.
It’s self-abandonment.
“When the passion goes it’s time to be true to yourself.”
4️⃣ Your Calm May Be in Corporate
Entrepreneurship isn’t the only path to freedom.
For some ADHD women, structure, innovation and change inside corporate environments provide nervous system safety.
Why This Matters for ADHD Entrepreneurs
ADHD business growth requires
✔ Identity flexibility
✔ Emotional regulation
✔ Habit-based decision making
✔ Courage to pivot
✔ Letting go of ego
Antoinette’s experience during Covid showed how powerful adaptability can be. Her history of entrepreneurship allowed her to lead through uncertainty with strength and calm.
Sometimes growth isn’t expansion.
Sometimes it’s redirection.
If you’re navigating career change, burnout, passion loss, or wondering whether business ownership is still aligned this episode offers honest perspective.

ADHD | Entrepreneurs Resilience Is a Habit, Not a Personality Trait
This is an older episode of Corporate to Calm, but the message is incredibly powerful for business owners navigating uncertainty, burnout or change.
In this episode, I speak with Yevheniia Lukash a woman whose story is built on resilience, determination and gratitude.
“I need to value my life every day.”
That sentence alone reframes everything.
Since 2014, Yevheniia has faced immense adversity and continued to move forward not through toxic positivity, but through action.
For ADHD founders, resilience can feel inconsistent.
We can be
• Highly motivated one week
• Overwhelmed the next
• Emotionally reactive
• Paralysed by overthinking
Yevheniia’s message cuts through the noise
“My action is more valuable than my message. I do not have time for pity.”
For ADHD entrepreneurs, this is powerful.
Momentum regulates the nervous system.
Action builds evidence.
Evidence builds confidence.
Key Lessons for Business Owners
1️⃣ The Value of Living in the Present
ADHD often swings between rumination and future anxiety.
Presence reduces overwhelm and sharpens focus.
2️⃣ Your Mindset Is Your Ally
Mindset isn’t affirmations, it’s disciplined thinking.
You cannot control everything.
But you can control your response.
3️⃣ Not Taking No for an Answer
Rejection sensitivity can stop progress.
Resilience habits keep you moving.
4️⃣ Helping Others Helps You
Yevheniia now supports Ukrainian businesswomen in growing their businesses through Instagram.
Service builds strength.
Contribution builds purpose.
Resilience isn’t dramatic.
It’s daily.
It’s
✔ Showing up when it’s uncomfortable
✔ Adjusting instead of quitting
✔ Choosing action over pity
✔ Staying solution-focused
Adjustment is a habit.
Action is a habit.
Gratitude is a habit.
And habits create calm.
If you’re building a business with ADHD and navigating uncertainty, this conversation will ground you in what really matters.

ADHD | Entrepreneurs Community Over Competition (And Why It Regulates Your Business)
This is an older episode of Corporate to Calm, but the message is more relevant than ever for ADHD business owners navigating visibility, social media overwhelm and comparison.
“Let’s share our knowledge, let’s come together & let’s create something.”
In this episode, I speak with The Business of Social founded by social media mentors Devin Landers, Laura Stapleton and Marion Smyth.
Their mission?
Community over competition.
“There are more than enough clients out there for everyone.”
For ADHD entrepreneurs, that mindset shift is powerful.
Social media can dysregulate the ADHD brain.
• Obsessing over follower numbers
• Comparison spirals
• Dopamine hits from likes
• Inconsistent posting
• Overthinking content
But growth isn’t built on vanity metrics.
It’s built on connection.
Key Lessons
1️⃣ Community Over Competition
Isolation increases overwhelm.
Collaboration builds confidence and accountability.
2️⃣ Focus on the Right Metrics
Stop obsessing over followers.
Start looking at engagement, conversations, conversions.
Data reduces emotional decision-making.
3️⃣ Build Efficiencies
ADHD entrepreneurs need simple systems.
Content batching, templates, repeatable frameworks = less burnout.
4️⃣ Push Beyond the Comfort Zone
Visibility builds resilience.
Confidence comes from repetition, not perfection.
5️⃣ Nurture Your Audience
“You need to be nurturing your followers.”
Consistency in connection builds trust.
Trust builds sales.
This Can Help Business Growth
If you are an ADHD entrepreneur trying to grow on Instagram or online:
You don’t need more content ideas.
You need
✔ Clear systems
✔ Community support
✔ Focused metrics
✔ Consistent nurturing habits
Social media growth is not about doing more.
It’s about doing the right things repeatedly.
Community regulates your nervous system.
Systems regulate your business.
If you’re building a business with ADHD and want sustainable visibility without burnout this episode is packed with practical insights.

ADHD | Entrepreneurs Resilience Is a Habit, Not a Personality Trait
This is an older episode of Corporate to Calm, but if you are an ADHD entrepreneur navigating rejection, pivots and self-doubt this one hits differently.
In this episode I speak with Amelia Peckham from Cool Crutches.
“Whether you will be able to stand, we don’t know… whether you’ll be able to walk, we don’t know… we do know that you won’t be able to walk unaided.”
In 2005, Amelia broke her back in a quad biking accident.
Doctors didn’t know if she would walk again.
She was given three months to rehab.
Instead of support, she was handed standard NHS crutches that caused blisters within days clunky, noisy, unfit for purpose.
She was told to go back to bed.
As business owners are often told
• Slow down
• Be realistic
• Lower expectations
• Accept “no”
• Stay in your lane
But resilience for entrepreneurs isn’t about toxic positivity.
It’s about building habits that support momentum.
The ADHD Business Lessons from Amelia
1️⃣ Listen to Your Gut
Your intuition is often pattern recognition moving fast.
If something feels wrong explore it.
2️⃣ Design With the End User in Mind
ADHD entrepreneurs thrive when we solve real problems.
Amelia didn’t want sympathy.
She wanted a solution.
So she built one.
3️⃣ Don’t Take “No” as the Final Answer
She approached designers and was repeatedly told
“I can do everything except…”
Except wasn’t good enough.
Rejection is data. Not identity.
4️⃣ Hard Work + Systems = Sustainable Success
17 years later, Cool Crutches is thriving.
Amelia now works in the business full time.
Consistency beats intensity.
5️⃣ No One Will Sell Your Business Better Than You
Visibility can feel uncomfortable for ADHD founders.
But no one understands your mission like you do.
Confidence is built through repetition.
ADHD entrepreneurs often
• Hyperfocus in crisis
• Struggle with authority when it limits possibility
• Innovate because standard solutions don’t fit
Amelia’s journey is a masterclass in turning frustration into innovation.
She didn’t just accept the tools she was given.
She redesigned them.
That is entrepreneurial thinking.
If you’re building a business with ADHD.
Resilience isn’t about pushing harder.
It’s about building daily habits that support
✔ Momentum
✔ Problem-solving
✔ Self-trust
✔ Visibility
✔ Long-term thinking
You are worth more than you think.
Push outside the comfort zone.
Design differently.
If you are an ADHD entrepreneur building a business that works differently this episode will remind you what’s possible.

ADHD | Entrepreneurs When Experience Becomes Your Business Superpower
“Experience has been my greatest friend.”
This is an older episode of Corporate to Calm, but for ADHD entrepreneurs navigating uncertainty, pivots and burnout this conversation feels more relevant than ever.
In this episode, I speak with Denise from Resolute Wellness a fitness professional with 20+ years in the industry whose business was turned upside down during the pandemic.
From award wins in 2019 to opening a new premises in early 2020… and then everything changed.
Sound familiar?
The Entrepreneur Reality
When crisis hits, business owners can often
• Swing between hyperfocus and paralysis
• Question every decision
• Struggle with consistency
• Feel the emotional weight of responsibility
But here’s what Denise proves
Resilience is built through habits, not hype.
Lessons for ADHD Business Owners
1️⃣ Be True to Your Values
Denise left a secure role when her values no longer aligned.
ADHD entrepreneurs cannot sustainably operate in environments that clash with their core beliefs.
Misalignment leads to burnout.
Clarity builds calm.
2️⃣ Listen to Your Clients (Not the Noise)
During uncertainty, it’s easy to panic-pivot.
Instead, Denise focused on her community.
She created
• An online library of classes
• The Resolute Candle range
• Wellness networking events
• Workshops & “Zen Hens”
She adapted based on real needs not fear.
3️⃣ Push Outside the Comfort Zone
ADHD brains crave novelty.
Instead of shutting down during the pandemic, Denise experimented.
Trying and creating at all costs became her survival strategy.
Action reduces anxiety.
4️⃣ Resilience Is Repetition
Awards in 2019.
Pandemic in 2020.
Rebuild in 2021 and beyond.
Consistency isn’t about perfection.
It’s about returning to your values again and again.
5️⃣ Language Matters in Business
“Conversations need to happen about language in our industry.”
For ADHD entrepreneurs especially, words shape identity.
How you speak about your clients.
How you speak about yourself.
How you speak about your business.
All of it matters.
What Does This Means for Entrepreneurs
If you run a small business with ADHD
You don’t need to do everything.
You need to
✔ Anchor into your values
✔ Build repeatable habits
✔ Listen deeply to your clients
✔ Create simple systems
✔ Allow yourself to evolve
The pandemic tested every business owner.
But it also gave many permission to innovate.
Denise didn’t just survive.
She expanded her hub of wellness.
“Everyone is welcome at Resolute.”
That’s leadership.
If you are an ADHD entrepreneur looking to build a business that feels aligned, resilient and sustainable this episode is for you.

ADHD | Entrepreneurs Failure Is Not an Option (But Burnout Is)
This is an older episode of Corporate to Calm, but if you are an ADHD entrepreneur building momentum after setbacks this conversation is gold.
In this episode, I speak with Sarah Slattery, founder of The Travel Expert.
“Failure is not an option.”
And for ADHD entrepreneurs? That hits differently.
Making Money From Your Passion (Without Losing Yourself)
Sarah spent 25 years in the travel industry, most of them with Sky Tours, eventually becoming a director.
But burnout, recession pressures and workload forced a pivot.
She left corporate.
She backed herself.
She built her own brand.
“It’s lovely to design your own day.”
That freedom is what many ADHD entrepreneurs crave.
But freedom without structure?
That’s chaos.
What Business Owners Can Learn From Sarah?
1️⃣ Pivoting Is a Skill
When the pandemic hit, many in travel paused.
Sarah doubled down.
She stayed visible.
She stayed consistent.
She kept serving her audience.
ADHD entrepreneurs thrive when they turn crisis into creative momentum.
2️⃣ Visibility Is a Habit
She grew
• Her mailing list
• Her website traffic
• Her Instagram presence
Not by accident.
By repetition.
Consistency builds authority.
Authority builds income.
3️⃣ Hard Work Needs Direction
ADHD founders are no strangers to working hard.
The difference?
Focused effort > scattered effort.
“I knew it could be big, if I put in the right time & effort.”
Right effort matters.
4️⃣ Push Outside the Comfort Zone
“When your back is to the wall, you push yourself.”
ADHD brains often perform in urgency.
But sustainable growth means
• Planned visibility
• Strategic pivots
• Clear systems
• Recovery time
5️⃣ Freedom Requires Systems
Designing your own day is powerful.
But ADHD entrepreneurs need
✔ Structure
✔ Repeatable marketing habits
✔ Content systems
✔ Clear weekly planning
Without them, freedom turns into overwhelm.
With them, it becomes scale.
The Key Entrepreneur Takeaway
Failure is not about shutting down.
It’s about
• Learning
• Adjusting
• Staying visible
• Showing up anyway
Sarah didn’t disappear when the industry struggled.
She grew.
That’s resilience with strategy.
.
If you’re an ADHD entrepreneur looking to grow your business sustainably this episode is packed with practical lessons on pivoting, visibility and building authority.

“As mammies we spend so much time running after everyone… we lose ourselves.”
Whether you're working or building a business, raising a family, managing a home and trying to keep your life together… your own needs are often the first thing to disappear.
In this episode of the podcast I speak with Orla Goldrick, and her story is a powerful reminder that reinvention is always possible.
Orla’s journey is incredible
✨ 17 years working in Eddie Rockets, rising to management
✨ Pivoting careers for her family
✨ Going back to education when the job market demanded more
✨ Setting a huge personal goal to lose 50lbs
✨ Making a confident decision about surgery and owning her choices
But what really stands out is her mindset.
ADHD entrepreneurs often struggle with
• consistency
• self-image
• identity after becoming parents
• finding time for themselves
• setting big goals and actually following through
Orla shows what happens when you combine:
clear goals + personal responsibility + courage to change.
Sometimes the biggest habit shift isn’t productivity.
It’s deciding you’re allowed to prioritise yourself again.
🎙 If you're an ADHD entrepreneur trying to balance business, family and identity, this episode will resonate.

How One Skill Turned Into a Business | The Power of Pivoting with Fiona Walsh
Tuesday Aug 16, 2022
Tuesday Aug 16, 2022
“I help businesses present themselves better.”
For many ADHD entrepreneurs, the hardest part of business isn’t the work.
It’s finding your niche and trusting your experience.
In this episode of Corporate to Calm, I speak with Fiona Walsh from Imagine Coaching, whose journey proves that careers are rarely linear.
Fiona’s story includes
✨ Failing her A-Levels
✨ Building a long corporate career
✨ Moving countries
✨ Raising a family
✨ Discovering coaching
✨ Pivoting her business during the pandemic
And eventually finding a niche helping businesses present themselves better through PowerPoint and communication.
This episode explores lessons that resonate strongly with ADHD entrepreneurs
• The power of networking
• How curiosity creates opportunities
• Why pivoting is part of the journey
• Finding your niche by listening to what people ask you for
So many neurodivergent entrepreneurs struggle with identity, focus and direction in business.
But often the answer is already there in your skills, experience and natural curiosity.
Sometimes your business is simply hiding inside the questions people keep asking you.
🎙 If you are a solopreneur working from home, navigating ADHD, or trying to build your community, this episode will resonate.
Listen to Fiona’s journey from Corporate to Calm.
